Wrinkle Treatment and Prevention

Wrinkles come as creases, folds or ridges in the skin. Most wrinkles associated with aging appear on the parts of the body with a large amount of sun exposure, including the face, neck, the backs of the hands, and the tops of the forearms. There are two forms of wrinkles: fine surface lines and deep furrows related to muscular contraction. Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, but this does not mean we are powerless in the face of them. There are always something we can do to help reduce or smooth out wrinkles.

Diet with Antioxidants

Fresh fruits and vegetables that are loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants are very helpful in protecting us against skin-damaging free radicals. They can help reverse existing damage and promote a healthy glow.

Anti aging products

When it comes to anti-wrinkle, the first thing a person thinks of may be anti-aging products, including anti-aging creams and serums. Yes, they are good helper in our fight against wrinkles. Anti-aging creams and serums can not only help prevent and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but also improve loss of firmness, and discoloration. Apart from those anti-aging products, moisturizer is also something that should not be neglected. Moisturizer is the basics and should be included in the daily routine to help keep wrinkles in check. When moisturizer is left out of the routine today, it could lead to deeper wrinkles later on. That’s because when the skin becomes dry, its barriers can be compromised.

Wear sunscreen and sunglasses

Sunscreen is an important way to protect the skin from ultraviolet damage and reduce the effects of photo-aging. Physical UV blockers that contain zinc or titanium oxide are recommended since they are less irritating and offer protection against UV-A and UV-B. Apart from sunscreen, UV-blocking sunglasses are also something we should carry with us to protect our eyes against the sunlight since the skin around our eyes is especially tender and are more likely to get wrinkled.

Get far away from smoking

Smoking can cause wrinkles. Cigarette smoke releases an enzyme that breaks down collagen and elastin, both of which are important components of the skin. A lack of collagen and elastin results in the development of wrinkles. Consequently, smoking or secondhand smoke will age the skin. If we want to prevent or reduce wrinkles, then we need to get way from smoking and secondhand smoke.

Clear the makeup

Dirt and makeup trapped against the skin cause environmentally-induced oxidative damage. Consequently, that causes the skin barrier to break down and prematurely ages the face. Therefore, we need to wash dirt and makeup off our skin to prevent or slow aging and wrinkles.

Maintain good circulation

Regular exercise help get the cardiovascular system going and better blood flow brings more oxygen and nutrients. This may help the skin produce collagen, which staves off wrinkles. So, get some exercise to fight against wrinkles while building up the body.

Get beauty rest

A good night’s sleep is also an important factor in reducing wrinkles. Not sleeping enough at night does harm to the skin and speed up the aging process of the skin. Inadequate sleep decreases the skin’s ability to recover after sun exposure. A bad night’s sleep will not be compensated by a nap the next day. We need to sleep for seven to nine hours each night. Besides, our sleeping posture can also play a role in our battle against wrinkles. Sleeping facedown in our pillow, or face-sideways in the pillow, over a period of many years, can cause our skin to wrinkle.
